Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to join our team as a Reading Interventionist and Take Flight Dyslexia Therapist.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing specialized instruction and support to students with reading difficulties.
In addition, as a Take Flight Dyslexia Therapist, you will play a crucial role in providing specialized instruction to individuals with dyslexia through the implementation of the Take Flight program, a structured literacy intervention, to help students develop reading, writing, and spelling skills.
You will work closely with students, assessing their needs, developing individualized lesson plans, and monitoring progress to ensure optimal learning outcomes.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Implement Take Flight Program: Deliver structured literacy instruction following the Take Flight program curriculum, which includes phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension components.
Assessment: Conduct initial assessments to identify students' strengths and areas for improvement in reading and writing skills.
Individualized Instruction: Adapt instructional strategies to meet the unique learning needs of each student.
Provide one-on-one or small group instruction to address specific reading and writing challenges associated with reading difficulties and dyslexia.
Progress Monitoring: Regularly assess student progress using standardized assessments, informal measures, and observations.
Adjust instructional strategies and goals based on ongoing evaluation to ensure continuous improvement.
Collaboration: Work collaboratively with parents, teachers, and other educational professionals to support students' academic success.
Provide guidance and resources to help parents and educators reinforce literacy skills at home and in the classroom.
Professional Development: Stay informed about current research, best practices, and developments in reading intervention and dyslexia education.
Participate in professional development opportunities to enhance your knowledge and skills as an interventionist and therapist.
Documentation: Maintain accurate records of student assessments, progress reports, and intervention plans.
Complete required documentation in a timely manner and communicate effectively with relevant stakeholders.
Qualifications: Bachelor's or Master's degree in education, special education, psychology, or a related field.
Certification as a Take Flight dyslexia therapist.
Certification or licensure in reading specialist, special education, or related field.
Experience working with students with reading difficulties, including dyslexia, in a school setting.
Knowledge of evidence-based reading instruction and intervention strategies.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
