TxDOT's Lubbock District is looking for a Planner I-IV based in Lubbock, TX.

gov) Position Description Planner I: Performs planning and programming activities in support of management-related programs and/or transportation projects.
Work requires contact with departmental managers, high-level executives, governmental/university officials and/or private entities.
Employees at this level follow standard practices that do not require frequent supervision of details.
Planner II: Performs planning and programming activities in support of management-related programs and/or transportation projects.
Work requires contact with departmental managers, high-level executives, governmental/university officials and/or private entities.
Employees at this level perform work independently on assignments; however all unusual issues are referred to the supervisor.
Planner III: Performs complex planning and programming activities in support of management-related programs and/or transportation projects.
Work requires contact with departmental managers, high-level executives, governmental/university officials and/or private entities.
Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives.
Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.
Planner IV: Performs complex planning and programming activities in support of management-related programs and/or transportation projects.
Work requires contact with departmental managers, high-level executives, governmental/university officials and/or private entities.
Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.
Essential Duties: Planner I, II, III & IV: Administers the public transportation grant program.
Assists departmental staff on administrative, technical and regulatory aspects of planning.
Assists with functional classification of highways and urban system map development.
Provides general information and support to governmental officials, sponsors, users and the public.
Performs planning and programming activities in support of management-related programs and/or transportation projects.
Works with consultants, vendors and other entities.
Performs other job responsibilities as assigned.
Additional Duties for Planner II, III & IV: Coordinates planning projects involving districts, divisions, various public transportation interests, research endeavors with universities, other agencies and/or local, state and federal agencies.
Responsible for functional classification of highways and urban system map development.
Conducts transportation needs assessments.
Reviews, evaluates and responds to requests from sponsors for state and federal improvement funds.
Additional Duties for Planner III & IV Provides general information and support to governmental officials, sponsors, users and the public.
Performs complex planning and programming activities in support of management-related programs and/or transportation projects Monitors and analyzes activities of assigned functional areas and provides information that may impact them Additional Duties for Planner III & IV Provides information and support to governmental officials, sponsors, users and the public.
Reviews and prepares correspondence, reports, studies, gives briefings and makes presentations regarding program activities Minimum Qualifications: Education: Bachelor's degree in transportation planning, engineering, business admin or related field.
Relevant work experience may be substituted for degree on a year per year basis.
Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications Experience: Planner I: 1 year, Planner II: 2 years, Planner III: 3 years, Planner IV: 4 years planning, research or legislative analysis-related activities.
(Experience can be satisfied by fulltime or prorated parttime equivalent).
Related graduate level education may be substituted for experience on a year per year basis.
Licenses and Certifications: Valid driver’s license.
This position requires driving a state vehicle.
