The State accounting team within Accounting Services contributes to these goals effectively by managing the University’s accounting, compliance, and related financial reporting needs for state appropriations.
Duties include fund analysis, complex financial ledger reconciliations, data consistency reviews and edit checks, deadline-driven financial reporting, and management and reconciliation of two accounting systems for both TTU and the State of Texas Uniform Statewide Accounting System.
Major/Essential Functions Assist in establishing funds in the university's financial system (Banner) and terminating fund/FOPs for all assigned funds in accordance with department policy and procedure.
Perform close-out procedures for appropriations associated with assigned fund classes in USAS.
Process, review, monitor, and retain accounting transactions and reconciliations to ensure accuracy, completeness, timeliness, and conformance to governing regulation and policy.
Ensure proper documentation is maintained for all assigned funds.
Respond to campus inquiries and address accounting issues to support departments and financial managers in their financial management and fiduciary responsibilities.
Perform compliance reviews, edit checks, and other periodic fund maintenance analysis in accordance with department policy and procedures including, but not limited to, orphan transactions and negative fund balances.
Assist with data table and attribute maintenance or other reporting or data consistency reviews as assigned.
Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree and 1 year of experience OR combination of education and experience to equal 5 years.
Preferred Qualifications Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel training or experience; Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles; Ability to identify problems, evaluate options and implement solutions.
Ability to communicate effectively in writing for the needs of the audience.
Knowledge/experience with Banner/COGNOS data management systems.
Experience with USAS (state accounting system); Experience performing account reconciliation with little direct supervision.

Occasional Duties Travel as needed for professional development.
