Position Summary: The Accounting Clerk is responsible for the accounts payable function including accurate accounting for and documentation of fixed asset purchases and prepaid expenses in accordance with the Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
Performs account reconciliations and assists with month-end close processes.
Accurately analyzes and maintains accounting records and is an excellent steward of time management and organizational resources.
Duties and Responsibilities: Serve TTCU members and co-workers pleasantly and professionally in accordance with TTCU core values of Trust, Respect, Excellence, Kindness, and Stewardship.
Answer internal requests, inquiries, complaints, and concerns in a timely, effective, and kind manner whether received in-person, online, or by telephone.
Responsible for the accounts payable function including accurate classification of expenses into correct general ledger accounts.
Ensures that expenses are properly recognized in the correct reporting period and in the correct branch.
Maintains accurate vendor information and expense approval workflows.
Maintains the fixed asset and associated depreciation schedules in the accounting software for general journal entries; ensures proper recording of new purchases.
Coordinates physical inventory of fixed assets for all branches.
Prepares quarterly roll forwards.
Responsible for management of the corporate credit card program including the enforcement of expense policies and card issuance and related limits.
Performs expense variance analysis to assist CFO and Controller in the explanation of material changes in expense on a department, branch, and consolidated level.
Performs various bank reconciliations as assigned.
Researches and resolves outstanding items and other discrepancies.
Provides month and quarter-end reports for financial reporting as assigned.
Documents policies, procedures, and workflows for assigned areas of responsibility.
Must comply with all company policies and procedures, applicable laws, and regulations.
Attends and participates in all required and job-related training events as assigned.
Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred.
A significant level of trust, credibility, and diplomacy is required.
In-depth dialogue, conversations, and explanations with members, direct and indirect reports and outside vendors can be of a sensitive and/or highly confidential nature.
Communications may involve motivating, influencing, educating, and/or advising others on matters of significance.
Typically includes subject matter experts as well as first level to middle managers.
Strong numeracy and analytical skills.
Good problem-solving and time management skills.
Highly organized and detail oriented.
