Summary The Designer I will be responsible for the design and documentation of the Vexus Fiber-To-The-Home (FTTH) network in AutoCAD & Geographic Information System (GIS) database.
The Designer I will be drafting, fiber network designing, generating construction and/or splicing reports, and building robust reports to determine the best locations for construction.
The Designer I projects will include expanding our network into new towns that have yet to receive fiber, expanding our services in existing towns, and augmenting our network in areas where demand exceeds our current capabilities.
Duties and Responsibilities Perform detailed designs of overhead and /or underground telecommunication utility systems Provide documentation and preparation of field notes, drawings, specifications, and estimates for review Collaborate with senior staff, Management, and engineers to verify proper schematics before construction Design and prepare independently, construction documents related to overhead and/or underground facilities associated with electric distribution systems and telecommunication networks and infrastructure following local and federal standards, guides, specifications, and procedures Work with permitting team to obtain appropriate permissions and approvals for new utility infrastructure to be installed Apply the local and federal laws and standards, guidelines, specifications, practices and procedures or appropriate industry standards in preparing layouts of overhead and/or underground electric distribution facilities and telecommunication facilities Prepare design sketches, cost estimates, bill of materials and any other required documents and reports for construction and maintenance projects Track and update design change activities in Vexus systems Coordinate design deliverables with Permitting, locates (Utilities), CAD drafting team to meet project schedules All other duties as assigned Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Familiarity with data processing and entry.
Ability to work within a fast-paced environment Skills and ability to clearly and concisely communicate verbally and in writing.
Proven ability to adjust quickly to shifting priorities, multiple demands, ambiguity, and rapid change.
Ability to define problems, collect data, and establish facts.
Ability to interpret various information from co-workers with different experience levels.
Ability to read and interpret various reports and contracts.
Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with co-workers, vendors, and management.
Basic working knowledge of working with Microsoft Office products.
(Outlook, Word, Excel) Ability to handle multiple tasks while paying attention to detail.
Effective time management skills and ability to meet deadlines.
